OVERVIEW

THE
PROBLEM

THE
SOLUTION

This project explores how UX writing can support a more realistic approach to movement during pregnancy. As energy, comfort, and motivation can shift from day to day, staying active isn’t always straightforward. Many wellness tools are designed around consistency and performance, which can create pressure during a time of constant change.

Through thoughtful onboarding and supportive daily guidance, this concept focuses on reducing friction and helping users engage with movement in ways that feel flexible, personalized, and easier to sustain.

  • Staying active during pregnancy can be difficult to sustain without realistic support

  • Energy, comfort, and mobility can change daily, making consistency hard to maintain

  • Many wellness tools are designed around routine and performance

  • This creates a gap between expectations and what actually feels manageable

  • Movement can begin to feel overwhelming or discouraging

  • The challenge is designing support that adapts to changing capacity

  • A pregnancy wellness app concept designed to support movement in a flexible, realistic way

  • Uses onboarding to understand user needs, goals, and constraints

  • Provides low-pressure, personalized daily movement suggestions

  • Adapts to changing energy, comfort, and capacity

  • Encourages small, approachable actions over rigid routines

  • Uses supportive language to reduce pressure and make re-engagement easier

ROLE

As a solo UX writer on this project, I defined the product’s voice and made sure the tone adapts to each moment from guidance to reassurance.

At the heart of every interaction is a person seeking a solution. These personas help us step into our users’ shoes, capturing the human element behind the data. By defining their unique perspectives and pain points, we ensure that every word we write serves to guide, support, and empathize with the real people navigating our product.

USER
PERSONAS

While these personas provide a foundation for who our users are, their needs aren't static. In the context of pregnancy, a user’s ability to engage with movement is deeply influenced by the physical and emotional fluctuations of each trimester. By acknowledging these User Realities, we can design copy that meets them exactly where they are whether they are feeling energized and empowered or simply need permission to prioritize rest.

KEY USER REALITIES

USER REALITY.png

To better understand how these physical and emotional needs show up in real-life moments, I looked at a typical morning for our primary persona. This scenario highlights how UX writing can meet a user exactly where they are even when their energy levels have shifted overnight

USER SCENARIO

Maya wakes up feeling more tired than expected. What felt manageable the day before now feels like too much. She still wants to stay active, but the idea of following a structured plan feels overwhelming.

When she opens the app, she isn’t looking for a routine to complete. She’s looking for something simple, flexible, and reassuring — something that meets her where she is that morning.

The experience needs to reduce pressure, offer clear and manageable options, and make it easy for her to begin without second-guessing herself.

Designing the Experience

The experience was designed to reduce pressure around movement by prioritizing flexibility, clarity, and ease of re-engagement. Each interaction focuses on meeting users where they are, rather than guiding them toward a fixed routine.

DESIGN
PRINCIPLES

  • Reduce pressure
Movement should feel approachable, not demanding

  • Adapt to the user
The experience responds to changing energy and comfort

  • Make starting easy
Lower the barrier to taking the first step

  • Support re-engagement
Missing time should not disrupt the experience

  • Keep guidance simple
    Clear, non-intimidating language over complexity

To bring this experience to life, I focused on a set of key screens that shape how users enter, engage with, and return to movement. These moments were selected to highlight how tone, flexibility, and personalization are built into the experience.

  • Welcome — setting tone and expectations

  • Current Activity Level — understanding starting point

  • Goals / Intention — capturing motivation without pressure

  • Concerns / Reservations — addressing hesitation

  • Home — supporting daily, flexible movement
